Roger Ebert's review talks about how awful it was to show people burn to death. I saw the movie on TMC and I assumed that part was edited out. But I'm trying to find on DVD exactly what Ebert's talking about. I just see an explosion and then the camera quickly goes outside.

that is all of the scene he is talking about. He was just implying that it showed poeple burning to death. The football player Jim Brown, it shows him dropping grenades in air vents that are above the German officers and their dates who are covered in gasoline. Thats the only thing me and my husband can think of. And we've seen it 4 or 5 times.
Hopes this is what you were looking for!!!

well she got it something close to right. They lock up the german officers in a cellar, then pour gas in the air vents, and gernads on top it. then Jim brown throws one in each vent with the pins pulled, shows hes running style. It is at the end, when half of them die.
