I would reeeally reccomend France.
I went just last summer- it was amazing. Contrary to popular belief, the French people are actually quite friendly- if you can memorize a few simple French phrases before your trip (Bonjour, mademoiselle. Ca va?), they'll love you like family!
The Eiffel Tower and Paris are just as beautiful as everyone says they are. All those romantic scenes you see in movies of street cafes and such; it's really like that!
It's been about 5 months (after a 1 month trip), and I really miss it. We also went to Bordeaux (wine country), and that was memorable as well.
I have an AWESOME (with a CAPITAL A) sleeping quarters reccomendation if you plan to stay near the Bordeaux area. It is amazzzzing!
Italy, I've heard, is quite nice, but I (and I'm not just saying this so you'll pick France, either) have heard that the people are very unfriendly. Of course I've never had first-hand experience, but things I've heard about Italy (not the city, it's citizens) can be unpleasant. Don't look over France because of it's bad "people" reputation- I don't know where that came from, and I wish people would just stop spreading the silly rumor unless they've experienced it themselves. I felt more welcome in France than I did in NYC!
Good Luck deciding. Au revoir!

You gotta give us more to go on here.
There's probably more to see and do in Italy, although France is not exactly lacking.
If you are from the States, you probably want to keep that to yourself in EITHER place, although France would have more hatred toward Americans right now.
If you are a Woman traveling alone, be aware if you go to Italy men will simply NOT leave you alone.
Everyone should see the Eiffel tower at least once in their lives, of course one could say that for the Canals in Venice too.
Given the information I have about you (none :-( ), the winner is......Italy.

Italy is the better choice between to two. There is much more to see and do there, plus it is warmer, cheaper, and friendlier.

I didn't like Italy that much, to be honest, and the French are jerks.
Go to Greece or Spain instead. in fact, go to Palma, Spain. Or Ibiza. VERY AWESOME PLACE!
