im 13, so i have not had sex, therefore i am not pregnant

my period has been pretty regular ever since I got it about a year and a half ago. the last few months, though, it has been pretty light and has only lasted 2-3 days.

i haven't really lost any weight, so i don't think it's that. However I am pretty active as a cross country runner. I run about 10-15 miles a week, all through the winter.

is this a problem?

Athletes can have irregular periods due to their lack of body fat. Maybe you have not lost "weight" but have lost fat that has been replaced by muscle ( muscle weighs more than fat does). It could be a hormonal inbalance, you are only just 13. I would still recommend you make an appointment with a gynecologist and get a thorough examination. Just because you are a virgin does not mean that you don't need a reproductive examination.
