I got a card from a University saying this... what does it mean?
Hi guys I really need your help... I got a letter today from NYU Stern School of Business inviting me and my family to University Day Reception. It says we are invited to visit in mid April and it says its for students admitted to class of 2011. However, I have no indication if I have been accepted or not. Can anyone clarify or does anyone know if this means I was accepted... if I can find out somewhere... or is it just incase I get accepted that I can go? Thanks so much I'm quite nervous!

Yes, it does mean you were accepted. I also received the same thing, from a college in New York. I called the college and they said I was accepted. But be sure, and call them up.

It doesn't sound like an official letter of acceptance; however, it sounds very reassuring that you did get accepted. It appears to be an invitation to what sounds like an orientation day for prospective students. Why don't you call the admissions office and clarify this piece of mystery? They should be able to tell you if you are accepted.

They always say don't count your chicken before it is hatched (I think that's how the cliche goes). In other words, don't be too sure until you get the facts verified.

Good luck!

Give them a call and ask them.
