My daughter is 11 (and some people are starting to say that jmhneo is my daughter and she is not) and she has 8 Coach things, is that to much? She doesn't do chores and doesn't get an allowance but she has good grades, should I stop giving her these?

Yeah, you should stop giving her that stuff. Those things are so expensive!!!! An 11 year old girl does not need a purse, or wallet...let alone a coach one. She is going to think that those are the most important things, and expect that stuff forever if you don't stop. She needs to get a little bit of a work ethic, and now is the best time to start teaching her. You could try giving her a modest allowance, and let her choose what to buy with it...maybe even require her to save a certain amount of it. If you give her 5$ a week, require her to save 2.50$ of that. This will teach her responsibility and a work ethic.

I think that even if she has good grades an 11 year old girl doesn't need that much Coach. Definitely not hand bags! Of course good grades are always great and should deserve a treat of some sort, but Coach should not always be the reward. Unless she doesn't know that it is expensive then it is ok, but it should not be a constant thing....she needs to be weened.

At that age I do think she is too young to get Coach but if she is doing well in school then I guess that is okay. But make sure that she keeps up with what she is supposed to do. If you want to try a new approach give her an allowance and let her buy her own Coach items with that. It will teach her responsibility and lighten up on your pocket. GOOD LUCK

ok seriously u have asked this question like five times u r either extremely stupid and cant figure out wat ppl think by the other four times u have asked this or u just wanna brag that ur kid has 8 coach items where some of us apparantly dont care. instead of spending all this time on the computer y dont u go spend sum time with her so u wont have to feel like ur buying her love by giving her coach items. mayb u guys can have a yard sale and sell the coach items together.

Coach... for an 11 year old? You are gonna regret this when she gets older and does not appreciate what she has, thinks money is easy to come by, and treats you with no respect. Good parenting!

The best way to make her appreciate that thing is putting her to work and save up her allowance to buy that thing.

If that Coach thingy is really expensive, you can pay half and she has to save up half the the price.

Buying a very young girl very expensive things could make her grow up thinking money grows on trees... She might become spoiled and not know how to handle money well. I would stop buying her high end designer things because she might grow up to be materalistic.
