my best friend said s/things that were so hurtful I can hardly look @ her&she doesn't even care! how can we ever be friends again

Sorry, but if she doesn't care, there's not much chance you're going to be friends again.
I would try and talk to her, though. Be sure you're calm when you do it - don't get upset and emotional. Just lay it all out for her. Tell her what she said that was hurtful and why it hurt you. Maybe she really didn't understand why it was such a horrible thing to say and thinks you're blowing it out of proportion. If she still doesn't understand that what she said was wrong, she doesn't deserve to be your friend.
But there's always the possibility of time making you friends again. I had a friend that used to make me so mad in high school, but now when I see her we just talk and catch up. We're not as close anymore, but I still count her as a friend.

you have to talk to her. Tell her how the things hurt you. If she doesn't care after that, then you dont need friends like that.

Friendships are like figure eights. Sometimes you grow apart and go on opposite archs, but the true ones always find their way back to the center.
