Hi Chole: Though there might be a few different causes for your pain like the bone spurs or a possible bone bruise, I had something like that happen to me a couple years ago, it hurt really bad I tried heel cups and dr. scholls shoe inserts, they helped a little but the pain didn't go away. So I went to a podiatrist and they said it was from my arch not being proper, so they gave me an arch support $60 and told me to buy a good cross trainer shoe and it fixed the problem.

It is plantar fasciitis:
http://orthopedics.about.com/od/footankle/a/fasciitis.htm

Plantar fasciitisis the most common cause of heel pain. The plantar fascia is the flat band of tissue (ligament) that connects your heel bone to your toes. It supports the arch of your foot. If you strain your plantar fascia, it gets weak, swollen, and irritated (inflamed). Then your heel or the bottom of your foot hurts when you stand or walk.

Most people have heel spurs but they are not what usually cause the pain. It is the inflammed ligament.

(I am an x-ray tech and see this all the time).

It very much sounds like Plantar Fasciitis which is inflammation of the plantar fascia. It is usually most painful when you first get out of bed in the morning, then gets a little better after you walk about, then is quite sore again at the end of the day.

The various remedies are discussed at http://www.coldoneinc.com/Plantar_Fasciitis.html.

Good Luck
