Is a Pentium BAD for Internet speed?
I just bought a computer with the following specs:
Gateway 2000 E-3200 with a 200 MHz Pentium CPU, 64 MB RAM
I got it mostly for DOS games and stuff but can I run an internet connection off this? Would it be slow or would it be OK?

It'll be ok....as I say....ok.....dos games are fine...internet might be a little challenging for you as with technology increasing, websites have done the same requiring more from PC's.

to begin with Pentium is not the "computer" however it is a very important piece of it. Pentium is a type of chip made by Intel on your motherboard which controls the speed of your PC. Your computer is very old based on the specs you supplied however for basic browsing the internet and DOS games you will be fine however anything else then you would need a new machine....this one is ready to be put to pasture. By the way if you do buy another PC then I prefer AMD chips rather than Intel.

It will be possible to connect to the internet, but probably not with most cable internet providers, at least according to their system requirements. You wont be able to run any thing better than windows 98 if that, so you will have to know what you are doing to be able to connect to any cable connection any way. 56k wont be as much of a problem. No matter what it wont be fun for browsing most websites out there today. Only thing it wont run extremely slow for is very basic HTML websites.
Is it a sucky computer? yes, very.
Will it run the internet? yes maybe, but maybe not the way you hope.

It's ok. There seems to be no problem at all, although your RAM is a bit small, but it can handle a few programs open at the same time. To avoid computer crashes close other programs that are not necessary. And Internet speed will not be affected. It depends on the modem and the internet provider.
