You should just listen to it a lot. Eventually, you will have heard it so much you'll not have time to think of the bad memories. Then, don't listen to it again for like three weeks. The bad memories will be gone and you'll be happy to hear it again.

This is an old question and easy to solve....
You see.....songs are like sponges that soak up the times when you heard them. The idea is to ring out the sponge to get the old memories out, then soak new good memories in.
Just listen to the song doing something or being with someone you like and it will soak up new memories. it takes time but it works.

...ya know, when i have bad memories , especially the type that a 'good song' brings, up, i usually have to deal with the pain, before i can move on (usually it's been to greener pastures)...listening to it hurts, a lot, at first...but time will heal the pain, and in a lot less time than you would think..good luck, sweetie...

Don't listen to it for a long time. Resist. Then when quite a bit of time has passed, at least 4 months, listen to it again. It'll be better. I've had to do that with "Yesterday", the old Beatles song, because it makes me think of my ex-husband and is very sad for me. I can't listen to it for a long time, even though it's a favorite of mine.

If you love that song, try to think of the good memories, not only the bad.
Good Luck.

Until the bad feelings go away, you need to find other music to listen to

There is nothing wrong with revisiting bad memories sometimes, they remind you how far you have come or how far you still need to go.
