I am starting a new job I was just wondering if for some reason they decide to get rid of me can I still draw unemployment even though I just started the job? I have worked fulltime with another company for the last 5 years and I just want to make sure for me and my families well being that I could draw if I was terminated during my first few weeks / probation period before taking on a new career.

BTW I am in Kentucky if it matters.

Unemployment looks at the reason you are no longer unemployed (And as long as it's not for gross misconduct or because you quit you will be able to collect) and all employment for the last 5 full quarters. Since you are starting in March they will look at Oct 2005 through Dec 2006, You should have no problem collecting if things don't work out.

Good luck with your new job, I'm sure things will be fine
