Depends on how you're going to do it. Hiring a company to build a home or you going to be a owner builder or just get a manufactured home.
I have looked at all 3 and they vary...$10k to $50k.
Also you have to add the utilities..is there water or is a well needed...is there power within ft. or hundreds of ft. away....it cost me $35k to get power 1800 ft away.
Also there is gas and sewer....is there a hook up or are you going to need propane and septic.
Are you going to pay cash for the building or are you going to obtain a loan....before anything talk to a loan rep to find out what you need to get a loan. And research all options before you start...some are better than others..depending on the situation.
Oh and also ...once you figure out what option you're going with..you need to find out what permits may be needed.
It's a headache...especially when you have wife who keeps changing her mind.
RESEARCH 1st
It's not as easy as you think....unless you have the cash and time.

The answer totally depends on what youwant to build. You can go with a simple rambler, tri-level, or split foyer and be in the neighborhood of $100 a square foot. You can upgrade the same three to moderate for $125 a square ft. or you can go luxury for about $175 a sq ft. If you go with a two story with basement (finished) you can go as high as you want. Without a doube the total number of square feet makes a big difference. A home of 1200-1700 is considered small, from 1800-2200 is considered medium, 2300 and above are large. Everything you add to the house adds to the cost, conversley, everything you do your self, like painting, lowers the cost.

Too many variables to answer your question. It depends on where you live, how large of a house, materials, etc. Give us more details. Could be $80 per square foot, could be $200 per square foot or more.
