Let me try.

Matters become less active under lower termperature and therefore can maintain the quality of the products longer.

Films and batteries contain active chemical and keeping them in fridge can reduce the 'aging' effect.

However, films and batteries should be kept in air-tight containers to avoid damage caused by moisture or condensation.

Not sure about the film.
For batteries the thinking is that the batteries will conduct electricity better at a cold temperature and have a longer life. This is a figment of the imagination. There is no gain from this.

As for those that swear by it, they are mistaken as to the reason the battery seems to have more power. The electrolyte will redistribute within the anode and free up better paths for the current to run through. This "recharge" from rest would happen regardless of the battery being in a freezer or not.

If a battery is too cold you will actually decrease it's effectiveness if you reach the freezing point of the electrolyte.

Because it preserves them better I think. The cold weather helps.
