A guy came into the hotel that i work at and told me he was a reverand of this church and had broken down.he asked to use the phone,he called the "tow truck company" and informed me that he was $32 dollars short. He promised that he would bring it back, i gave him my phone number.he called me at home when i got off of work, and told me he was going to meet me at my bank to reimburse me the money that i had given him. When i met him, he told me that the church wanted to help me out (mind you i am 9 months pregnant)and give me and my child a present for being so kind.He said that he was going to transfer $350 dollars to my account and all he needed back was $140 so he could get his vehicle fixed. The next day the bank called and said that nothing was put in the deposit envelope(the bank was closed when we made the transaction).i found the number to the church he said he was with, called, and they told me that other people had called with the same problem.i don't know what to do!please help!!

Read online about scams going on! Why would you give someone money if he was giving you money? "If it's too good to be true, it probably is!"

Sorry this happened to you, you were trying to be very nice and help a fellow human being. You must file a police report, and follow it through as well as you can, Unfortunately, your money is likely long gone, and you will be very reluctant to ever help anyone again.
A number of years ago, I had a lady knock on my door stating that her car had broken down. I invited her in, made her a cup of tea, helped to get her car towed, and drove her to a hotel, then drove her to pick up her car the following day. She turned out to be a nun, in my area for a conference, 1500 miles away from home. She sent me a wonderful letter when she got home, and we are friends to this day.
Unfortunately, you met a crook, and it will affect your future dealings with people. I hope he gets caught and convicted.
I also wish you the best of luck with your baby.

If you gave him a check, call your bank and stop payment on the check. Filing a police report might also make you feel better and perhaps result in paying for his crime, since he did commit fraud. There's not much else you can do except learn from the experience.

You need to file a police report immediately. It is unlikely that you will be able to recover your money, or anything from him for that matter. I suggest you be a little more hard hearted in the future. Go file a police report.

Report to the police, but don't expect to get your money back. Learn your lesson and move on. At least you only lost very little $
