I don't know what you mean by "alternating Period of ?" Bi-Polar is a condition seen as mood swings from euphoria where life and everything is too wonderful to express except with excitement and racing thoughts, then the pendulum swings the other way and a deep depresion that goes to the depths of hell; and seems like it can never be escaped, even with friends & family going out of their way trying to help, being empathic and encourageing to hold on day by day. Only believing the cycle will end and enduring it is what helps along with the right medication.
The cycle can last long or short, days or weeks, for instance if medication is taken to control the swings and for whatever the reason the sufferer desides to stop taking it an episode can ensue that was worse than the first.

Bipolar individuals experience periods of happiness and sadness. Typically a period of sadness or depression last much longer than a period of happiness. During the period of sadness the individual may feel the world is out to get him or her, suicidal tendencies, feel overwhelmed a lash out at the people who are closest to them. Their behaviors are not done on purpose and if tested sometmes doctors will find period of low dopemine or other hormones in the blood. When the individual experiences a period of happiness they feel like everything is going their way and seem to have done a 360. it is really hard to time the periods apart from one another because they happen randomly but knowing that things will happen and consualting with a qualified doctor would be ideal.

Fix your question and I might be able to help you

OK, why did someone thumbs down my answer? I mean, LOOK at this question!!! What the hell does "alterting" mean? Did he mean "alternating?" And where is the verb (or predicate) in this so-called "question"?

Is this idiot going through such a severe period of either mania (in which his brain is buzzing with euphoria, irritability, or other extreme feelings) or depression (in which he's so blue he can barely get out of bed) that he can't construct a coherent question? Is English his second language? Did he come from a disadvantaged background which left him barely literate? Or is he just garden-variety stupid?

what's "alterting" mean? Bipolar is a mood disorder, marked by manic episodes (euphoria or irritable mood, boundless energy, agitation, potential for risky behaviors like compulsive shopping/promiscuous sex, etc) and depressive episodes.
