is a "comparative interpretation" the same as a "comparative analysis"? if not, what are the major differences? thank you.

An interpretation is based more on opinions while an analysis is based on facts and references, so no. They are not the same. The analysis pays more attention to the minute details while the interpretation pays more attention to major themes that run throughout the work.
Simple put, analysis=cold hard facts, interpretation=personal opinions.
With that said, you have to back up your opinions with whatever text you are using when doing interpretation. You can't just throw random statements around and say you interpreted the text this way. As long as you can justify it, your interpretation is valid (even if it sounds nonsensical).

No, a comparative interpretation means you're comparing and explaining it to someone else what it means. A comparative analysis means you're comparing and analyzing it. So you're thinking through it or examining it. Does that make sense? I hope that helps.
