Unscrew the screws on the bottom of the machine with it unplugged and turned off. You'll know which screws by the two little squares beside the screw holes. The two little squares are supposed to resemble memory sticks. Ground yourself before selecting one of the memory sticks to remove. You'll need to press down to unhook the memory from its cradle. The memory cradle should be angled out to make it easier to enter a new stick of RAM memory. After you enter the new stick, snap the cradle with memory back into place. After you screw back the door monitor the performance of your computer. If you're getting a lot of error messages, your memory may be corrupt or it may be a different speed than your computer. Good luck!

Before you begin any removal or installation procedures:
1. Backup, backup and then make sure you backup. Something can always go wrong. If there are any files that will make you cry if you lose them, back them up or make a copy on a disk.
2. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
3. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
4. Disconnect the power cord.
5. Remove the battery by following these steps:
a. Turn the computer upside down with the front panel
toward you.
b. Slide and hold the battery release to the left. (The front edge of the battery disengages from the computer.)
c. Lift the front edge of the battery and swing it back.
d. Remove the battery.
6. Find the memory module compartment. It is on the bottom of the computer and it has three small Phillips head screws in a triangle pattern.
7. Loosen the three Phillips head screws. You will need a small Phillips head screw driver. The size of the screws are PM2.0Ã5.0.
8. Lift the left side of the memory module compartment
cover and then swing it to the right. Remove the memory module compartment cover.
9. If there is existing memory to be removed, spread the retaining tabs on each side of the memory module socket to release the memory module. (The edge of the module opposite the socket rises away from the computer.) The module will side away from the socket at an angle.
10. To install a module, line up the pin notch with the socket notch. At a 45 degree angle, gently slot module into socket. Once in, gently push module towards notebook, this should cause the retaining tabs to spread and lock the module in. If the retaining tabs do not spread, re-seat module in socket.
11. Reverse the above instructions. Put on memory compartment, put in battery, plug in cables, power up notebook.
12. Enjoy new memory.
Common problems
Notch on memory does not line up = you have DDR memory instead of DDR2 - do not use or force into socket.
Nervous about pulling my notebook apart = find friend or relative with more computer experience. Bribing with free beer after installation works.
