My computer seems to be on the blink lately and was thinking of bringing it to my nearest Best Buy to have the Geek Squad look at it. Is it really worth their expertise? has anyne used it before?

Geek Squad is more like a bunch of salesman trying to sell you more crap. They are crap. They charge you a lot for something so simple.

They are very expensive. You probably have many capable computer techs in your town. Look in the yellow pages. I used another outfit like the Geek squad. Will not name them, they are semi local. 3 or 4 towns around here. They come in wham bam open computer, do a system check, smile a lot to questions. Put some of the programs they like on your drive. the safety ones. Take off what you had. Tell you now every thing is fine. Good idea to have us in every 6 months. ////Of course it is, for their pocket book. I asked the Geek squad why they charged tax on labor, they said that is how they did it. That was about 6 months ago. I did not hire them. There is a free site on the Internet, they will go through the problem you are having, give you an answer, no charge. Darn i am on the wrong browser. Google it, Protonic .com see what comes up They are great.I checked the web site on the other browser. Give them a try first.

Don't use it. If you have a specific problem ask on here. The money isn't worth it, and if it turns out to be a hardware problem at the end of your own personal troubleshooting, Best Buy will 'install' their own specified overpriced hardware. If you can find a way to do it yourself you can spend less money, it will take time, but your time isn't worth their money grabbing claws.

Of course it's worth it to go to the Geek Squad. I got my computer from them, and they're very good. They may have a very funny name, but their Volkswagen Geek Mobile will keep them high-tech and ready to work.

They're very expensive, I think they charge like 100 bucks an hour. If you have a tech guy at work ask him he'd like to make a few bucks and see if he can fix your computer.
