I've noticed kids are using answers.yahoo.com for getting reports done...is there anything we can do about it? When I was a kid we actually WENT to the library.

I think this has become a serious issue...

I understand your concern, but I think if you look a little deeper you will see that there are some real benefits to having homework help of all kinds available on Answers.

Although I hate to see when people simply *give* answers to homework, thankfully most people offer more constructive help. They illustrate the steps to a math problem, or offer links to sites with information on a particular topic for the essay or report or project.

Many kids do not have anyone at home available to help them with their homework. Answers offers a community of people willing to respond to questions at any given moment. Also, with the wealth of information available on the internet, I don't know that visiting the library would be necessary regardless of who was available on Answers.

I always encourage people to be responsible when they answer homework questions, but I am really glad to be able to help kids who make the effort to ask.

Some kids get more *help* than they should, but this happens in the *real world* too, just depends on who they ask.

Hope it makes sense!

Jen

I couldn't agree with you more. I can see it now in the Bibliography, "some dude on Yahoo at 11:15 PM". Computers and technology have knocked us backwards about 100 years or longer. If proof needed go to any store with cash register and ask that your change be counted back to you. After they lose that stupid look, ask for your money back!

i think it is okay to get ideas from here and stuff but nothing should be based on information obtain from answers because there is no way to tell whether or not the info is accurate.
