They are definitely going to be in. Calgary has been flagging as of late, and the Avalanche have been a juggernaut at the perfect time of the season. Budaj has been amazing during their streak, and with contributions from the entire line-up, they're as confidant a team as any has been at any point in the season. Brunette reaching season highs, Statsny's 20-game point streak, Sakic and Hejduk playing as good as ever... Even the defense has gelled. Seemed that as soon as Skrastins went down (no offense to him whatsoever, as he's one of the most underrated defensemen in the league in my opinion) and Finger took his spot, the entire team came together on the same page. The two games in the final week of the season against Calgary will be huge, for both teams. In the end though, the Avalanche will be facing either the Preds or the Wings in the first round of the playoffs.

Yes. If Peter Budaj can continue his hot goaltending and Milan Hejduk and Paul Stastny continue their torrid scoring, they can definitely steal that 8th seed. Calgary is currently struggling right now and the Avs are only 4 points out from them and have not lost in their past 10 games. I think they have an awesome chance of making the playoffs.

No. Calgary will get the 8th final spot. Kiprusoff who hasnt been playing up to his potentional this whole year...will step it up and Calgary will edge out Colorado for the last spot.
