It's like ever since I've started college as a full time student,I can't seem to do well on test,I study in sections, about a weak before I do the test and still do bad. I'm thinking, maybe it's because I tend to focus on my weaker subject and therefore tend to forget everything else. I have three classes everyday from 8am to 1:30pm. I seriously feel stupid at school. I mean I'm a well spoken person and all but as much as I comprehend the lectures in class, and study,it's like I forget everything when it comes to the test, not because of anxiety but because I have a hard time retaining information, especially when it's alot. Any tips, suggestions,I'd really appreciate it very much. Thank you

Well for one thing, only try to remember the most important points, eliminating useless information that they usually include. Use memory tricks, like rhyming with something you want to remember. If you are smoking pot or drinking quit and get enough sleep. Not enough sleep will fry you. Eating protein foods and juice helps you think straight. A diet of coke and noodles in a wrapper don't cut it,lol. There are classes on memory or things you can learn to improve it. Go online and look some of them up. P.S. Day before test skim and use highlighter on important points of notes. Day of test if possible do a quick scan, usually helped me.

You don't want to focus on your weaker subject at the expense of your other subjects but you should focus on it. Although you say you don't have test anxiety, I think you might have a little test anxiety. Studying in sections about a week before the test is a good idea. Continue to do that. You probably need to change the way you study during those sessions. If you are simply reading over your notes or text that's not a good idea because it's not active. Make flashcards, create possible test questions and see if you can answer them, cover up your notes and quiz yourself etc... try working with a study partner or getting a tutor. This will get the learning more active. Get more of your senses involved. Quiz yourself out loud and answer your questions the same way.
