Do you think that:
1. People who know nothing about the depressing tales of Lemony Snicket's books will actually read the back where it says not to read if you don't want to hear a sad story?
2. If they do read it, will they actually put down the book?
3. Lemony Snicket's books are too sad, especially for kids who are probably the main readers?
4. It is better for kids to read happier things?

#1Of course. It builds intrest. If someone tells you you can't see something, aren't you tempted to peek??

#2 I do not think they are actually that sad. These people may come to like them.

#3 No. I am a kid and these books have a sense of humor. They really do.He list all these serious things and then he will add something odd like horrible ballet lessons or cucumber soup.

#4 Life is not always happy. Why should we pretend it is?

I think people who read the back will be impelled to read it. Most people can't control themselves enough to stop doing something they began to do. (LOL!)Especially if someone recommended that they don't... The books are very sad. I think it is better for kids to read happier books; you're right. There's so much sadness in the world that if you're reading a fiction and want to go into the world of pretend, maybe they should read happier things. It definitely gives a more positive attitude towards life.
Not that I have anything against the books! I enjoyed reading some of them (didn't read the whole series-got tired of it)

Very interesting question though!
