drinking and smoking are NOT a good time... actually getting your education and getting a good job ensures that you will have a good life

Sorry to hear you feel this way. So let's get started. First: The people drinking and smoking are not having a good time. Hence the reason they are drinking and smoking. They are trying to have a good time as much as you are trying. So how do you get the most out of life? Well, I must mention that God has already granted you your request. True friends are hard to come by and good companionship is as well. They are on the way and will arrive exactly when you are prepared for them. Until then, getting the most out of life is thinking about others before yourself. It is helping others while learning all you can so you can better help others. Money does not make you happy. Things do not make you happy. It is what you do for others that will withstand the test of time and have the most meaning. Start by finding a good church to fellowship and volunteer. Hit the books and hit the books hard. But find a book you can read for fun. Write poems and stories. Play an instrument. Keyboards are inexpensive enough to have a basic one just to escape. Keep a journal. You have to learn that the best things in life are really free. If you have ever seen a forest after a light snow. A sunrise. Amazing! But if you understand what it took for you to be able to see that amazing sight it becomes clear what life is all about. The one thing to avoid as much of as possible is TV. If you think about it, the purpose of TV (not public broadcasting) is to create a show that people will watch so that advertisers (who sell things you don't need) will want to buy air time for their commercials. TV has no promise to help you get the most out of life. It is time to get back to basics and try not to let the media lead you believe other people are having fun and you are not. You are not seeing the DUI's and the addiction or the addiction and the real price of smoking. These people are not having fun like you think. This may not be the most popular answer, but it is one of the honest ones.

I don't know why this all of a sudden turned into a major preach-session (though I have nothing against it) I definitely know what you mean. There's nobody who's remotely like me, or who even acts friendly toward me in any way. Worst of all, some people are telling me that I should get some friends, AS IF I LIKE TO BE ALONE. It's like there's something about me that makes people just want to get up and sit on the opposite side of the room.
Anyway, the question: You obviously probably knew when you wrote about the drinking and smoking and whatnot, you were gonna get people saying, "Don't do it." yeah, well, they were right, don't do that, I'm just assuming you already knew. But, yeah, it's pretty annoying, and whenever I look at people they always seem to have at least ONE person to laugh with, if not FIVE. But, one thing that works pretty well: Throwing a party, or a hullaballo, or whatever you want to call it. The only thing you'd want to avoid is letting everyone else at your party have a good time, and you just work, keep everyone else entertained, and do it all for nothing. Move around to people, play music, and if you have one, (or you can rent one) a pool table or some sort of game table, and be loud, and randomly ask, "HEY! ANYONE WANNA PLAY?" be very fearless of interaction. That's all I can say, but, hey, desperate times call for desperate measures, and some people even buy a car in their mid-life crisis, so you got yourself a bargain there!

Think About This—
At about twenty years of age a human becomes an adult. During another thirty years he builds a fund of valuable knowledge and experience. Then he begins to age and weaken. Finally he dies. He may have lived seventy or eighty years, but—
A giant tortoise may live more than 150 years
And this Sequoia tree has lived thousands of years
Would it not make more sense if intelligent humans lived longer than such unreasoning animals and mindless trees?
Why Humans Should Live Far Longer
Right in man’s own body is evidence that he was designed to live much longer than he does now.
Scientists recognize that the human brain has the capacity to take in a billion times the information that a person stores up in his present lifetime—and more!
Man alone of all earth’s creatures can build on knowledge acquired. He alone sets goals. But to realize his goals man needs time. And among earth’s living things, only man cares about time. Tortoises and trees have no interest in clocks or calendars.
True, if a longer life offered nothing but a continuing fight with money problems, crime, poverty and poor health, it might have little appeal. But what if you could enjoy a longer life on an earth free from such troubles? Surely every normal person would want that.
The Bible shows that God’s original purpose was for man to enjoy lasting health and life right here on earth, but in a world free from trouble. That still is God’s purpose. Read it for yourself in your own copy of the Bible at Genesis chapters 1 and 2, Isaiah 25:6-8 and Revelation 21:3, 4.
Why, then, have humans been dying for thousands of years?

You could go to your local church and ask to be part of the local church group.
Volunteering brings alot of happiness to people and gives you the oppertunity to meet alot of people.
Or you could see if your college has a students association and maybe get involved in the clubs and sociaties.
If you stop trying to do what everyone else is doing, and find out what you like doing, then you will be able to use your knowledge to help others in some way. God will love you for that no matter what.
Tell yourself that you are your own person, and that you are unique and one of a kind. (It's agood thing to want to be different)
I wish you well.
