Artist/Band: Dunn Holly
Lyrics for Song: Daddy's Hands
Lyrics for Album: Holly Dunn - Milestones: Greatest Hits
I remember Daddy´s hands, folded silently in prayer.
And reaching out to hold me, when I had a nightmare.
You could read quite a story, in the callouses and lines.
Years of work and worry had left their mark behind.
I remember Daddy´s hands, how they held my Mama tight,
And patted my back, for something done right.
There are things that I´ve forgotten, that I loved about the man,
But I´ll always remember the love in Daddy´s hands.

Daddy's hands were soft and kind when I was cryin´.
Daddy´s hands, were hard as steel when I´d done wrong.
Daddy´s hands, weren´t always gentle
But I´ve come to understand.
There was always love in Daddy´s hands.

I remember Daddy´s hands, working 'til they bled.
Sacrificed unselfishly, just to keep us all fed.
If I could do things over, I´d live my life again.
And never take for granted the love in Daddy´s hands.

Daddy's hands were soft and kind when I was cryin´.
Daddy´s hands, were hard as steel when I´d done wrong.
Daddy´s hands, weren´t always gentle
But I´ve come to understand.
There was always love in Daddy´s hands.

Daddy's hands were soft and kind when I was cryin´.
Daddy´s hands, were hard as steel when I´d done wrong.
Daddy´s hands, weren´t always gentle
But I´ve come to understand.
There was always love .....
In Daddy´s hands.

Ten Ducklings

Ten ducklings hatched from ten duck eggs
Then followed their sweet mother
On down a path of wet spring mud
They quacked to one another.

The first duckling was nervous
And inclined to stay as close
As he could to mother
Who fawned on him the most.

The second duckling had an air
Of charm and yet alarm
He wasn’t going to take a chance
To come to any harm.

The third duckling would wander
If he’d been born alone
He followed his young brother
While sister prod him on.

The fourth duckling, first sister
With three more close behind
Marched with expectations
Of leading on her mind.

The fifth duckling though scrawny
Could cheep like all the rest
But quacking wasn’t easy
Her mother did that best.

The sixth duckling had lashes
And eyes of azure blue
So pretty mother duck would
Soon not know what to do.

The seventh duckling was sturdy
With great egg bearing hips
She knew how to be girly
But ducks don’t have great lips.

The eighth duckling was slower
Than all the other boys
Except the two behind him
Who were his greatest joys.

The ninth duckling was limping
But tried to do his best
And to his greatest credit
Kept up with all the rest.

The tenth duckling was lazy
He liked to lie in bed
He thought himself unlucky
’till he saw where mother led.

She told her nervous first born
To jump into the river
He didn’t so much do it
As shake and quiver shiver.

The second duckling took the leap
Left the others on the bank
Now they knew they wouldn’t sink
And they knew who to thank.

Except the lazy last one
Who yawned a little bit
Until a fox had taken him
Then he wished he hadn’t quit.

*It's been a year daddy
I really really miss you
Mommy says your safe now
In a beautiful place called heaven*

Oh I'm thinking about our younger years

*We had your favorite dinner tonite*

there was only you and me

*I ate it all up*

We were young and wild and free

*Even though I don't like carrots*

Now nothing can take you away from me

*I learned how to swim this summer*

We've been down that road before

*I can even open my eyes*

But that's over now

*While I'm under water*

You keep me coming back for more

*Can't you see me?*

Baby you're all that I want
When you're lying here in my arms
I'm finding it hard to believe
We're in heaven

*I started kindergarten this year*

Love is all that I need
And I found it there in your heart
It isn't too hard to see
We're in heaven

*I carry a picture of us
In my Blue's Clues lunchbox*

Oh once in your life you find someone

*You are the greatest daddy*

Who will turn your world around
Pick you up when you're feeling down
Now nothing can change what you mean to me

*I can swing on the swing by myself*

There's a lot that I could say
But just hold me now

*Even though I miss you pushing me*

Cause our love will light the way

*Can't you see me?*

Baby you're all that I want
When you're lying here in my arms
I'm finding it hard to believe
We're in heaven

*I miss how you used to tickle me*

And love is all that I need

*Tickle my belly*

And I found it there in your heart

*My belly hurts*

It isn't too hard to see
We're in heaven

*I try not to cry*

I've been waiting for so long

*Mommy says it's okay*

For something to arrive
For love to come along

*I know you don't like it when I cry*

Now our dreams are coming true
Through the good times and the bad

*You never wanted me to be sad*

I'll be standing there by you

*I try Daddy but it hurts*

Baby you're all that I want

*Is it true you're not coming home?*

When you're lying here in my arms

*Maybe someday*

I'm finding it hard to believe
We're in heaven

*I can visit you in heaven, okay?*

And love is all that I need
And I've found it there in your heart
It isn't too hard to see
We're in heaven

*It's time for me to go bed now
I sleep with the light on
Just in case you come home
And kiss me good night
I love you so much
I miss you Daddy*
