Being that Soundgarden had broke up in '97 & Matt didn't join Pearl Jam until '98 he shouldn't have had any problem with it. Also Chris Cornell is such a close friend/semi-bandmate(Temple of the Dog) to Eddie Vedder & Pearl Jam, I'm pretty sure that it was cool with him, I mean he (Matt) was going to end up drumming for somebody, why not it be a group he already had close ties with.

He went to PJ after Soundgarden broke up, so I'm guessing not.

i dont know, but i think that matt got a better deal for sure.
