If it is, should I give her Tylenol or what? I don't want to give her Tylenol for such a low grade fever if her body is fighting off something, but I don't want to make her stay hot if a cool bath or something would fix it. Thanks!

we just moved and I don't have a doctor's office to call yet because I am in the process of working some stuff out with insurance. And it wasn't all day that we were outside, just a couple hours of hiking and about 3 hours in the car, so it took up most of the day. The weather was really nice, and it didn't feel hot which is why I am a little confused. I wouldn't take her out ALL day. I agree, that's not very smart! :)

I would recommend a tepid bath first. Take her temp again about 1/2 hour after bathing. Give tylenol if she seems uncomfortable or temp rises above 101.

A temp can be a sign of heat exposure, but it is more likely that she is teething or coming down with a virus unless you were somewhere very hot.

Exertion alone can raise your core body temperature, nevermind being too hot. And I know you are probably thinking hiking isn't hard on her all she does is sit there, but the constant changes in positioning do require muscle work.

I would make sure she drinks frequently I would offer to nurse or bottle every half hour. Give a warmish bath, not really cold. But as cool as she will enjoy and encourage her to be realatively still and then take her temp again in an hour or so.

Also do not overdress her right now. *IF* she has any two of the following I would go to the ER: vomitting (not spitting up real vomitting), sunburn, extreme lethargy, shivers, difficulty in doing something she can normally do (sit, stand, etc). Just in case she has heat stroke.

most likey its just from the heat. A cool bath should help if not use ice packs on the head. If your still worried call the doctor or give her the right amount of Infant Motrin. Works better the the tylenol

Yea just let her ride it out, u shouldnt have to do anything really, Tho i do suggest that you dont take her out for the whole day, thats kind of crazy- an 8 month old should not be outside the whole day regardless- babies at any age are very sensitive to the weather

This is heat related, just try to reduced heat by taking away some of her clothes or any thick that covers her and,let her drink water. Im sure she will be relieved by this measure.

99 is an extreme low temp for an infant. they don't even ask you to bring your child in the hospital until it's over 102.7 . don't sweat it. give her a bath...if it rises then contact the oncall doc.

don't give her tylenol. I assume you, or somebody were carrying her around during the hike so that's how she got warm.
