Whoever they get I hope he does better scouting than Tubby did, UK really needs some great 3 pt. shooters.

even although i'm a Florida Gators fan myself, I might desire to declare that Tubby Smith isn't in basic terms between the final coaches interior the SEC, yet interior the country. in case you verify out him while in comparison with Rick Pitino (who abandoned Kentucky i might upload), Tubby has achieved plenty extra. He has recruited extra NBA starters and All-Stars than Rick Pitino. He has gained extra national championships than Rick Pitino. and supreme me if i'm incorrect, yet has he not coached uk to the longest modern streak of NCAA Tourney appearances? And to precise that off, he's one in all of the winningest coaches in college basketball on the instant! he's had a coarse 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, however the SEC is transforming into harder and harder as could be confirmed from final 3 hundred and sixty 5 days and this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. Tubby's nevertheless doing an dazzling interest. he's finished way too plenty for uk for them to fireplace him. And right that's slightly some thing to instruct the place uk must be headed in the event that they fireplace Tubby: The UC Bearcats fired Bob Huggins because of the fact of a few offcourt incidents. till now he replaced into fired, he replaced into (and nevertheless is at Kansas St.) between the winningest coaches in basketball. The Bearcats under no circumstances ignored the postseason while he replaced into their coach, and reminiscent of Tubby Smith, he had a protracted streak of NCAA Tourney appearances. interior the 1st 2 seasons without him, the UC Bearcats have ignored the two postseason appearances and had a mixed checklist of 33-30 (.524 win proportion), which isn't very solid for a team who was once between the NCAA basketball elites. i'm to unsure that uk desires to flow down that street. So i does not propose firing Tubby Smith till uk starts off getting sub .500 documents.

I think the first call will be to Mike Brey of Notre Dame. Finally made the tournament there, a Coach K disciple, and does a decent job recruiting at a football school. The second call might be to Jaime Dixon of Pittsburgh, a smart, young coach, a great recruiter of talent, and not afraid to take on Rick Pitino. The dark horse is Travis Ford of UMass- played for Pitino and turned UMass around in two years.

Anybody crazy enough to take the Job!
It isn't Rupp's SEC anymore and Kentucky will not have an easy road to championships nor pad their win totals against meager competition, as in the past.
Wildcat fans, it is now 2007, not 1957. Kentucky will find itself the NC State of the SEC. Once dominant in the old Southern Conference and early ACC but now relegated to mid conference standings. Get used to the 10 loss seasons.
Everette Case is the individual responsible for bringing big time college basketball to North Carolina and the South, in the 40's. He built State into the dominant power and when Carolina got tired of being beaten by that bunch from "Moo U", they hired Frank Maguire in 1953. They wanted to beat State so bad that Maguire condoned recruiting violations that put UNC on probation for the first and only time in school history. He was asked to leave in 1961, which ushered in the Dean Smith era. State also wound up on probation due to a point shaving scandal, they lost their dominance but occassionally find the magic.
Will Kentucky find the magic? Time will tell.
For reference, Kentucky used to play in Memorial Coliseum, (capacity 8,500) that opened in 1950. When Memorial opened, NC State had been playing in Reynolds Coliseum for 1 year. Basketball capacity 12,400. Construction on Reynolds began in the early 1940's but was halted during WW2. Further delays occured after the war when more money was needed for dorms and classrooms.
****Many suggest that Nova's win over Georgetown may be the biggest upset in a Title game, but being from the same conference, the outcome was predictable as Nova was familiar with Georgetown's weaknesses and exploited them.
NC State's win over Houston in '83 was unimaginable - for most - not me. State has always held some magic in BB for me. If the 3-point FG existed then, it would have been a rout.

IF anyone remotely mentions RP, I will totally flip out. He is not worthy of one breath from UK.
I think they need to get a young coach.
