MEN have contributed most to the Women's Movement. Without the cooperation of men, women today would probably be in about the same situation as they were 200 years ago.

The marching and breaking up of bars about 100 years ago brought attention to some things, but also as a result, prohibition was enacted, but was a terrible mistake. Power may not make right, but power is power and men held it all; and basically still hold more than an equal share of it.

If it came to a plain, basic vote, Women's Liberation as a movement could be defeated easily, with the fundamentalist women and men voting in a block, but that isn't going to happen as we have a Supreme Court, (nearly all men, nearly always was men) who have supported the equal rights of women.

I think that there are too many who all work in such different ways that it would be hard to choose just one who has contributed the most. There are of course people like Elizabeth Cady Stanton and all who helped with the initial right to vote debate, people like Susan Griffin and Rosi Bradotti who give us such wonderful written work and spread a great deal of philosophy around the world, and of course there are our modern day women that are making a difference in politics, like Hilary Clinton and Condoleeza Rice and Barbara Boxer, etc. There are so many great women in the world right now who are working so hard to make it a more fair place and I think that they all (even if I don't agree with their opinions or politics) deserve our support because they are out there paving the way for our daughters.

I think the biggest contributor was Betty Friedan. She's the one who revived feminism for the 20th century. Without The Feminine Mystique, who knows where women would be?
