I did take my cats to the vet and their test were all ok. My question on the kidney failure is, if they were going to have it would they already show signs, or can they still develope it. The vet didnt really give much detail. I stopped feeding the Iams on Saturday.

we just found out two months ago that my dog has kidney failure and that was before all the news about the food. the vet said it is old age and she has anywhere from 3 months to 3 years to live. this was really sad to hear because we just lost are dog 2 weeks before i took my other dog in. i feed my dogs pedigree and i am really scared to find out if dry foods cause kidney failure too. my dogs signs are sleepy or lazy(she has a hard time to jump on the couch) wets the bed every night( i have to let her out 2 times in the middle of the night) she drinks more water( the vet said that drinking more water is good for the kidneys), walks weird( since her kidneys are not working as well she walks some what of balance. she just did start to show the signs about 5 months ago and it got a little worse every month(she used to only wet the bed 1 or 2 times a week and now it is every night). there where no signs that would of made me think she had kidney failure it just came immediately. i really hope they get all this figured out cause now i don't no what to feed my dog.

I'll pray that your cats don't have kidney failure when i pray for my dog.

good luck :)

p.s. get tested every 6 months just to be sure

A major sign is yellow eyes. The body fills with the toxins usually gotten rid of via pee. Yuck.

This is one of those things that you need to just keep an eye on, since they tested ok. If any symptoms begin to show, such as excessive thirst, lack of urination, or not eating, have them tested again just to be sure.

I just saw this topic on the news.

They said if your pet seams tired, drinking more water, urinating more. I think there was one more.

Sure hope your pet is OK!! I am waiting for them to tell us it is dry food too yikes!!
