can someone offer me some method for going about preparing for roles? i know theres the method school of acting and all that stanislavki stuff, but can anyone offer me any other ways of building a character or of any exercises for this?and can you tell me where i can find this information? thanks this help will be most appreciated! btw i have read some of "Actors on acting" im just looking for other resources.

Watch real people in your daily life. Then work on emulating them in front of a good friend or a mirror.
You will crack yourself up at first, but try to really put yourself in their shoes. Which means being someone you are not.

Digging for emotions that may have happened to you along the way also helps make it more real.
Say for instance, a friend told you they were in trouble. How did you react? Try to recall your feelings and reactions at that moment.

Try Uta Hagen's "Respect for Acting" and Sanford Meisner's works. You might also find Viola Spolin's "Improvisation for the Theatre" helpful.
