You better start with the landlord. You need his permission either way. If there is a HOA then youhave to meet both the HOA and the landlord. He may be willing to it for free, or maybe an ancrease in monthly rent. He may allow you to do it, and he would own it. Start discussing to see what happens.

Ball, you sure work fast!! I just answered your question about leaving a note on a place ya wanted to rent. If the fence is permanent ya need to get the landlords permission. Look at your lease agreement, and when ya leave it has to stay. What do you want to keep in? A pet, or a child or both? I bought an invisable fence and with an edger that the blade adjusts on put one in for $150. Nice thing about it is when I want I can pulll up the wire and take it with me. I don't know if I would put a shock collar on a kid though. But it would work

Definately talk to your landlord first. See if he will put it up or if not will he reimburse you. Depending on where you live there may be rules tied to your neighborhood - called CC&Rs where I live - that dictate the type of materials, height, etc. of the fence. When you are renting a home you are also bound to the terms of your lease. Fencing may allowed, but the landlord may not want a fence. Good luck!

I'm pretty sure that if you have a standard lease agreement it will state that you can not make any improvements on the rental property without written permission from the owner/landlord, so ask and negotiate.

Whatever you do, you'd need the consent of the landlord in advance. So start by talking to them.

I would ask your landlord if he would, if he says he is not going to pay for it. ask him if you could put one up. good luck. but I wouldn't put one up unless you have his permission. good luck.
