Loosen the soil around the rose bush, and feed it with a mix designed for roses, it isn't expensive. Wait for warmer weather. Miracle grow also has food for roses, although the soil mixture is more important for it to grow. Water and feed enough to maintain health. Find a book which shows how to properly trim the rose branches, if needed. Inspect and use an herbicide as needed. Add another rose bush and you'll have two to care for.

miracle grow seems to be a verrry good friend of mine following the directions on the box, being careful not to get too much on the leaves it will burn them, they also make one specifically for roses. Also have had great luck w/ smith's fish emulsion has to be mixed w/h2o and lasts forever ~ can be used for all plants ~ will have to say it puts off a putrid odor and looks really nasty but works wonders!!!!!!
