The best cure for me was taught to me by a Navy SEAL corpman-he said to get a nice big plastic cup of water with a wide mouth. Go outside. Bend over forward and drink the entire glass from the OPPOSITE RIM across from the front side from which you normally drink. You can be sloppy and spill a little, but don't let it invade your nasal cavity.
Your hiccups might be gone after the first attempt. Works like a charm for me- every single time. My wife too. I was so happy to hear this after years of trying that stupid "scare" technique (which has worked maybe once in my life). Happy to share it with you. Hope it works as well for you as it does for me.

I swear by this!!!
Every time I get the hiccups I will apply pressure to the center of my forehead. I also rub my fingers in a little circular motion. I seen it on Untold Stories of the ER. This girl had them for two weeks when she finally went to the ER. One of the older MD's had this old wifes tale that cured her. Good Luck.

I have tried many methods...the only one that has ever worked for me is to drink a glass of water while holding my nose. You can try just holding your breath but it doesn't work as well. Your ears plug and it feels kinda funny but it works! If it doesn't work the first time, maybe you didn't do it long enough or maybe you have a really bad case. Try another drink. I have never had to take a drink more than twice while holding my breath. Works awesome for me! Try it!!!

Place a metal knife into a glass of water. While drinking the water, touch the knife to your temple while it's still in the water. Drink continuously for a few seconds, at least.
