Michael ...... Where do you get off saying that I shouldn't be having kids! What kind of response is that. Just because I want to know what age a baby will turn their head toward their mother when they call their name. What does my age have to do with my question. And by the way, I'm not "young" as you call it.

Funny, I was just reading in my AAP 1st Years book tonight before I read your question and it said babies start responding to their name around 4-6 months of age. And that is pretty reliable I think. I recall my son doing the same, and was just refreshing myself for my new baby. Hope that helps!!

Well, babies respond to their mother's voice shortly after birth. I think each of my 4 children recognized their names by 4 months.

I think my son was around 5 months when he started to recognize his name being called.. Don`t listen to Micheal..Babies do recognize there parents voices shortly after birth but that wasn`t what you asked though..See he needs to learn to read before he starts cutting down other people! Don`t you think? lol...

I think my daughter started recognizing her name at about 5-6 months old.

you do not know...maybe you should not be having kids...they will listen and recognize both parents voices in a matter of days....you must be young...it shows...good luck...i answered honestly
