Do you know the difference between a Persian and an Arab?

I think it's important to know about the differences in an area of the world that we meddle in!
GW didn't even know there is a difference between sects. He thought they were all "just Muslims"!

Am sorry to say but NONE of your answers are correct.

Persians can also be called Iranians. Persians and Iranians is the same thing. Where are persians/iranians from? Well, they are from whats currently called IRAN, which is the country next to IRAQ. People in IRAQ are Arabs.

But back to the Persians, the reason why I said "currently called IRAN" is because a couple thousand years ago the Persian empire reigned from parts of Europe over Africa, the whole middle east etc. The Persians have a very long history eg like the Romans, Greeks etc....

Persians/Iranians speak FARSI, which is their own language.
Also they are considered to be from the pure Aryan Breed. ARABS are NOT.

Persians/Iranians are the only ethnicity in the middle east that is NOT considered ARAB. Pretty much everyone else is ARABIC.

When it comes to the Religion of Persians/Iranians, I must dissapoint you all, and let you know that they can be Christians, Jews, Bahai and Muslim. Unfortunately in current Iran, you have to be muslim, the government enforces that and hence the christian, jewish and bahai persians are considered a minority. Truth however is that the so called minority number are way larger than stated.

Now, the majority of the people in the middle east are ARABS, with their own language called ARABIC.

Most ARABIC people are muslim, however there is a majority of people living in IRAQ that are christian, hence they call themselves CHALDEAN. confusing? well just bare with me.... so basically it is very much possible to be a CHRISTIAN living in IRAQ... you just have to call yourself CHALDEAN instead of ARAB.

Hence the people in IRAQ can be ARABS (muslim) or CHALDEANS(christian)... Very sad to know, but the Media has yet to mention the large percentage of Christians (Chaldeans) living in IRAQ... All you hear is muslim this muslim that.

People living in IRAN are called PERSIANS OR IRANIANS (can be either christian, jewish, bahai or muslim)

Another interesting fact is that, anyone taking a western civilization class already knows this, BUT The FIRST CIVILIZATION in the world was created and originated between the tigris river and euphrates river , which is in the current boundaries of IRAQ/IRAN ..... first irrigation systems, streets, postal system, invention of a legal system(code of hamurabi, which protects women children and handicapped), farming and invention of sugar, First roots of MATH, PHILOSOPHY, PHYSICS and POLITICS, ASTRONOMY etc and the list goes ON and ON....

All this stemmed from the middle east , in particular that IRAN/IRAQ region ....

SOOoooooooooo to me its just funny how sometimes the people in these regions are considered barbaric and what not by the Media, when in reality, THEY have been the first civilized people in the world ....

Gives you something to think about .... In fact, you wont only find about PERSIANS in the history book, the Census Bureau has statictics about every race, and PERSIANS are ranked the highest when it comes to having graduated from high school and even College. Persians have the HIGHEST ratio of people with a bachelor degree or even masters.
Also, their annual income is generally higher than any other ethnicity and the doctor/lawyer ratio ranks highest as well...

Persians were members of the ancient Persian empire located where iran, iraq and other of those countries now are. The Persians fought both the Greeks and the Macedonians in many battles. Usually defeating the greeks, however when Alexander the great attacked they fell to the macedonians. Modern day Arabs, are people that live in the area once occupied by the persians. Most practice islam and do not wage war with greece..or macedonia (mainly cuz it no longer exists).

I dated someone who was 1/2 Persian and 1/2 Egyptian. His family left the East because of the prejudice toward a mixed marriage.
It knowing the difference btwn an Arab and Persian, the same as knowing the dif btwn an Englishman and an Australian, or an American and a Canadian. Expect differences and u will see them.
