You're right, it isn't fair. It should be conservative vs. liberal.

Because the Libertarian party is both extreme right and extreme left at the same time. Most people fall into the middle of the road category, somewhere between the Reps & Dems.

My friend, I have always been a moderate independent and always will be. And I always vote for the more moderate person running for office, be he Republican or Democrat.
I'll vote for John McCain or John Edwards if either get the nod. Now, if by some chance the Libertarians choose to run a moderate for president I would consider it. Will that happen?

because the political parties that thinks they call the parties in the upper Northeast say they DONT want anything else. So we the people are not allowed to change or add parties. I myself would like to see non-partisan and libertarian parties added to official offices for voters in America.

because its about power and control neither party does whats best for the american people both say they do but it all comes down to control i think the bad outways the good most of the time in both parties and would like to see a new party rise up maybe the other 2 would worry more about the working class and those without health care and those who lost it all in hurricane katrina, but instead they worry more about whos in power and control

It used to be the 2 parties competed in the arena of idea's. Today's Republicans are yesterdays Democrats, and today's Democrats are just plain socialist/communist.

These are the two biggest parties and inside each party, you have liberals, middle of the roaders, and conservatives. Any other party really don't stand a chance for a major public office.

because it is politics it should be right and wrong but the party's are more interested in their own agenda's and are negligent of what the real issues are. The real question is why can't we come together on the important issues and stop our immature bickering over the little things because first and foremost we are Americans

Most people seem to think there is just one political spectrum.
But as you point out, there are other ways of measuring things.
Such as the scale from small govt (Libertarian) to large govt (Democrat and current Republican).
