Family Guy is my choice.

I love family guy, but both shows are great.
I got bored with southpark for a while, but their most recent episodes were pretty funny.
I thought that family guy's comeback was awesome! I watched the show from the beginning & thought it sucked when they got cancelled. Fortunately, Fox did a smart thing & brought them back seeing how much money the DVD's brought in.
When it comes down to it.... they're both along the same lines. I know that Matt & Trey get pissed when people compare their show to family guy, but they're a lot alike. They both parody pop culture and historical icons. The difference to me seems that southpark tackles current issues while family guy just kind of makes fun of them briefly & moves on. The southpark guys devote entire episodes to a certain issue. (i.e. scientology & celebrities who are in the closet....) where the family guy storylines are more focused on the characters & their situations & the non-sequitur moments parody certain issues.
Basically I think they're both funny........ But i wouldn't buy southpark episodes on DVD whereas with family guy I have all the currently available seasons on DVD.

South Park - no contest! It's been on longer and is funnier and more classic.
As Eric Cartman once noted, jokes in South Park are consistent with the plot. On Family Guy random jokes are thrown in that... well... don't have anything to do w/ the plot.
What Eric thinks, I think. I love that little guy. :-D

I like both shows but I think the guys from South Park sometimes go over the line with the bathroom jokes, but Cartman is hillarious.
