You know, classical music wouldn't be around today after hundreds of years if it wasn't excellent and appealing to a huge number of listeners. Can you say that it will be the same for Rap, Hip-Hop, etc.? I remember back in the late 50's when it was thought that Calypso would override all other types of music...how many times do you hear Harry Belafonte singing "Day-O" nowadays on the radio? Or, how about "Folk" music?....certainly you seldom hear the Kingston Trio singing "Tom Dooley" very much anymore.
Every generation thinks that "their" music will last forever, but so far it's only classical music that has stood the test of time through centuries. Heck, give it a try...there are CD's such as the one at the link shown below that sound like they'd fit if you cared to give it a chance, and similar ones can be found at most public libraries. Happy listening!

No it isn't, it is very relaxing and it calms the nerves. The worst music I have ever heard is Heavy Metal, Hard Rock or most any kind of rock and Rap. Those are the lamest and worse.

No, there is something in classical music that you must adapt to. Because it doesn't give you that "rush" or feeling of shock for 2 music, doesn't make it lame, It means you are only skin deep. Think before you make statements that prove how much of an idiot you are.

It's only lame if you're a POSER!
If you listen to ANY style of music because OF the music, then you can appreciate classical. However, if you just listen to stuff because it's popular or they dress cool or whatever, then you can't appreciate yourself muchless anything else.

What? Are you new? I'm a TOTAL Metal Head. But classical music is the purest base of our music. Well, probably banging drums was first. I don't, personally, like to listen to it but when I do, I LISTEN to it. We are evolving! Embrace evolution!!
Peace,

It's not lame. It's just misunderstood. I'm not talking about you, but generally the people that I know that hate classical music are not musicians, so they can't appreciate it.

Not really, one must understand it and realize what the composer was trying to accomplish with all the different instrumental sounds and combinations.
