Have you heard about all the pathetic teenage attacks and vulnerable, sleeping homeless people. It is a horrid commentary on today's youth, but in general society has contributed by the attitude-they are people, why are they treated/seen as otherwise in the eyes of many?

Homelessness skyrocketed during the Regan administration when he was trying to pare down medical costs. A lot of mental patients were turned out of hospitals and their families could not handle their ideosycrasies. So they just wander the streets trying to survive.

Because most of them are "mental" or Viet Nam Vets or other vulnerable people in our society, they have no emotional, psychological, physical, mental ways to protect themselves and are living constantly in "open season".

Most (if not all) of the attackers know that police do not take much credence in the victim's statements because the homeless do have problems with the "real" world, and do use alchohol and drugs to zone out from the pain of living in those conditions.

It makes the attackers feel powerful, sort of like little demi-gods, to be able to have that kind of control over another human being, helpless or not.

Doesn't say much for the way we have raised our children, ourselves or our friends.

I believe this is due to ignorance. The fact is that most homeless people do not choose to be homeless. There are some that do, but most don't.

A large portion of homeless are very sick people. Many suffer with mental problems, drug addiction and/or alcoholism. It is sad that people look down on these people. We wouldn't treat "sick" people so poorly, yet we treat these sick people as we do.

Don't get me wrong, I know that there are those who choose homelessness as a way of life. I am not talking about these people.

Just think, if you were stricken with a mental problem that no longer allowed you to solve your own problems, that caused you to loose your job, your home, your family and your way of life. I know from personal experience what this is like. It isn't pretty.

I also know:
1) but for the grace of God, there go I
2) judge not, lest ye be judged.

Mahalo!

Because their lazy, worthless, drains on society. If they weren't, they wouldn't be homeless. Anybody can get a job and have a life if they really wanted to. SOOOOoooo.... if they didn't want to be seen as the hypothetical anus of society, they should get off their butt, take a shower, get a shave and a haircut, and GET A JOB!!!!

To look down upon the helpless and the weaker is a common human trait. To ciunterbalance that we have philanthrphy and above all examples of Mother Terrassa and others who care for such people.

Homeless people tend to be smelly and dirty two characterics that most people don't like. I think that's a big part of the reason.

Because they are worthless bums. I'm tired of having AMERICANS begging me for free money because they are making the choice not to work. I've lived coast to coast and was never hit up by an immigrant. Stop giving them anything and they will get up the motivation to get off their fat, lazy asses!!!

I do not look down upon anybody. Yes people do, but they are void of soul. I am not. And if you are like me, then we can kick their a s s together and let goodness and positve energy rule over the universe.

i know! people judge them and think of them as 'nothing' and that 'it's their fault they're on the streets!' .... but how do we know?... we don't actually know them.... we don't know their story... how they ended up that way... it's a shame really... i'll never pre-judge a homeless person again...

because a lot of them just drink or use the money they receive for things that will not help them. many beg for money or help but don't work to help themselves.
