American Idol has been watched and talked about too much. There is nobody different on the show this year that can compare to the past years. Plus the song selections are not that appealing. It has been over done with all the Simon and Ryan comments and that website telling everyone to vote the bad person instead of the good person. Too much publicity before it started.

A show where judges who aren't themselves talented enough to do anything right (other than spit insults at other people)... where artists have to constantly change their style to become more commercial (can you say, "sell-out?" I knew you could!)... and all--or at least most--of the stuff they perform is basically kareoke; it's their voice to someone else's stuff!
Face it! When Gene Simmons was on there as a judge some time ago, who amoung us couldn't help but wonder how Simon would have judged HIM before his career? In fact, how much of a career would he have had without the makeup and stage gags? Or his band menbers? Could you imagine Gene having to sing for the judges in that little audition room, no fancy stage set-up or ridiculas antics? Think we'd ever hear from him again if making his career was based off that show? Nope. Yet there he was, gas-bagging other people and acting like some kind of hero all the while. Sickening. And SPEAKING of Simon... let's hear "Love On The Rocks," old boy, and see how WE the viewers like it. Betcha we wouldn't. Can't sing? Shut up. Shut the hell up. And Mariah? If she's so great, why isn't she still growing as an artist herself rather than simply rehashing all of her old stuff and calling it new? Maybe because that top 40 crap hasn't changed much in twenty years, eh?
If it's "gone down the dumps," then at least it didn't have to travel far to get there! No wonder my TV is pretty much only used to watch movies with--television sucks!
(Edit) Mariah, Paula... easy mistake! They both sound and look virtually the same. Groundbreaking music... it ain't.

I don't think the caliber of singers is the same as last season, with the exception of a few. And what is up with Sanjaya still being on the show? I almost feel embarrassed for him because he's so terrible, yet he's there week after week! WHO is voting to keep him on?

Someone told me that Howard Stern told his talk radio show listeners to vote for the worst singer because he wanted to make a mockery of the show, saying that the show was a bunch of b.s.. But I only really watch the auditions, because watching all of the crazy people who think that they can sing are hilarious. But in my opinion I think that there are great singers that have been on the show: Kimberleigh Locke, Fantasia, Paris, Ruben, Katherine, Lakisha, Melinda, Stephanie, Phil, and others that it will take me too long to name, they were honestly there to make it and as for Sanjaya he isn't a great singer and it isn't fair that he's still there when there were others that sung much better than him was sent home.

i think it is also.
i watched it every year except the year with fantasia.
and the last two years seem to feel rigged. Votefortheworst.com is really influencing the votes, and the wrong people are getting through, which is making the show a lot worse.

there's not enough singing talent left. I wouldn't replace the judges but they all say the same things as the first seasons.
ps: people are voting for the bad singers so they can screw up the show. That is why senjia is still in it

The really really good singers were all used up in the first two season. We've been getting the rejects and leftovers ever since.

I don't think it's really changed that much, I just think the novelty is wearing off. It usually does with reality shows. And the first of anything is almost always the best!
