Like everyone else is saying, it is Venus. Its the brightest thing in the entire sky besides the moon and sun. You will find it either low in the west right after the sun goes down or low in the east right before the sun comes up. It is nicknamed the Morning Star.

Mercury, Venus, Mars, are all in the west, and as an added viewing bonus, Saturn straight up and Jupiter to the east.

that is Venus...Sane is sadly mistaken...Jupiter and Mars don't rise till early in the morning which would make them east...Mercury is up, but sets too early to really be seen that well, and Saturn is up, but once again, it is in the east at this time. His link is dated from 2004.
