Years ago the answer to your question would have been Porsche because of reliability.

Today however, with both cars being German (Audi own Lamborghini), its a completely different proposition.

Reliability cannot be used as both are as reliable as each other.

So it comes down to other factors.

Performance - both pretty similar. As someone else said they're both fast enough!

Looks - A bit of personal taste here, but both are head turners in every way.

Price - who cares when you're looking at this type of car. If you need to ask then you can't afford it!

So it comes down to passion - Lambo all the way. Porsche are a bit clinical in the passion stakes. They make fabulous cars and I'd have a 997 Turbo tomorrow if I could afford it, but they don't keep me awake at night dreaming of what might be. A Lambo on the other hand evokes all kinds of things. What teenage boy in the 80s didn't have a poster of the Countache on his wall? The Diablo is a true monster! Lamborghini! Just say the name! It evokes all things supercar and with that you would have to choose the Gallardo.

I'm not bashing the Porker. Its a very very good car. And the fact that you said GT3 rather than everyone elses choice of Turbo means that you know a thing or two about cars. It is one of the best Porsches you can get (I'd love a go of a 996 GT2!), but it still doesn't evoke the same response as a Lambo.

If you parked both cars outside a school and let the kids stand beside the car of their choice, then I'd put money on you not being able to see the Lambo for the crowd of kids around it!

I wouldn't mind having this choice! And either option would be ok... but when it's all said and done there would be no doubt about my choice.

Which would be a GT3. While Audi's ownership has allowed Lamborghini to make massive advances in the area of the car's chasis, and the Gallardo is easily the best chasis they've yet to produce, it's still behind Porsche. Also, as the 997 GT3 is an evolution of a car that has always been developed primarily for racing homologation, it's an extremely well developed platform.

Since any car I have will see a good deal of track time, I would go with the proven performer in this arena. Despite the greater power from the Gallardo I'd expect it to be well behind the pace of a 997 GT3 (around Nordschleife, the current Gallardo is well off the pace of the 996 GT3! And the 997 is definitely faster than the previous version). And desp-ite what the earlier comments have been about the Gallardo's on track performance, my personal obersvation of a couple examples bears out the lap times I've seen reported. For all it's power it still doesn't have a chasis that will allow to putting it to maximum use.

The Lamborghini is a stunning car, and I think represents the best engineering effort from the company to date. And if it were just about looks, I might be tempted! I love the looks of Porsches, but the Lamborgihini does have a certain Italian flair that is simply beautiful... but in the end my choice would be about performance, and despite some great numbers, the one's that ultimately matter (actually lap times) all fall heavilly in favor of the Porsche.

Lucky to have the choice..

i own a 996 turbo so bias towards Porsche. The GT3 is slower around a track than the Gallardo, but they two totally different cars.

The Lambo is a V10 whereas the GT3 is a 6. The GT3 is track orientated as is the Lambo but the Lambo doesn;t show it, its more suited to kings road than the track, but having said that its fast but not as fast as my 996 because its been Ruf'ed up, by RUF.

If i had choice i would always choose german over italian cars, you wint be on hard shoulder in a porsche unless you ahve a puncture.

My advice would be if you after a car that can be tracked as well, go the full hog and get the GT3RS..

Good luck and if you want a good deal on a GT3 let me know, i have a friend that got me 15k off my Turbo...

Tough choice, they're both great cars that I'd happily surrender an eye for, but I'll have to boil it down to money, and the Porsche is quite a bit cheaper.

And it's a great car for track days, the GT3 model being built mainly for such a thing.

Otherwise, I can't really decide, each car having their own strengths. Lambo probably more exciting and exotic, Porsche maybe handling better on the limit and perhaps a bit more reliable.

i might say a Porsche. in basic terms because of the fact in case you force a Lamborghini you're a sort of human beings i think. i comprehend they look cool and are rapid yet you portray your self as a "hi look I easily have funds. hi female wanna take a trip?" type of individual. With a Porsche you're stylish and comprehend a ingredient or 2 approximately luxury. So yea that is my opinion.

Porsche. Because of repairs. A lot more Porsche dealers around than Lamborghini dealers.

Lamborghini Gallardo. Although if it were my choice, I'd take a Lamborghini Diablo anyday...

If it was a 911 Turbo, then there's a comparison, but if it's the GT3, then the Gallardo. It's more rare.
