if its a brand new mitt, just put some oil on it, and flatten it out the old fashion way, under a mattress. if you heat it, the leather will wear out. if your going to heat it at all, use a hair dryer, not a heavy heat.

Some people say that it shortens the life of the leather because the dry heat takes natural moisture out. Neatsfoot Oil will also cause the leather to crack and rot sooner than a lanolin based oil. If you want to buy a new glove every year or so you can heat it and have it ready to play in about 3-4 hours. But a good leather oil will help soften the hinge and not ruin the leathers natural ability to breath and pick it's own moisture. Keeping a ball in your glove when not in use will keep it in shape and you generally only have to oil a glove when you break it in.

I've never used a microwave or a dryer, but I have always used the oven and it has worked well to break in a new glove.

Ive heated all my baseball gloves in the over..grease them up then put a baseball in it with a rubberband around it and heat it on really low heat for about 5-10 mins and start breaking it in with the baseball right away

dude unless u want to ruin your glove beyond repair , i suggest u dont put in anywhere near any type of oven or microwave, juts go to the park and play catch for 15 minutes. Or u could get a ball and put it in your glove and tie a bunch of rubber bands around it, it will help the stiffness of the glove.
