DC or San Francisco?
Would you chose to live in DC or San Francisco?
I want ot eventualy get into a non-governmental Org. Both citites have many. I wish to work in International NGO's though, and i know that most major offices are on the east coast. But I do love SF...

I don't know

can you give me some pro's and Con's of living in both cities? Other than weather. And I know that both are pretty expensive to live in.

give me all sorts of answers, not jsut work related (althugh that would be usefull too)

Both have great restaurants from all over the world. SF has more actual immigrants as opposed to diplomatic corps which makes for a more interesting place overall culturally if you ask me. DC has better summer weather (it actually gets hot unlike SF until October), SF has better winter weather. DC is closer to another great city, NY, SF is more isolated (hour flight to LA). SF has better transit when Muni is working. SF has the ocean and the bay, it's great to be around water, nicer than you might realize if you don't live by it now. SF has more indie/foreign film screens and more unique neighborhoods.

All in all I'd shoose SF, it just has more personality and variety. It's more expensive though, keep that in mind.

Rossoner has a lot of good points. I would like to add that SF has a lot more traffic than DC, because it is isolated on the tip of a peninsula and can only be reached by bridges or 2 freeways from the south. DC seems to have more commuting options. SF also has a really bad parking problem.

Also, SF has earthquake potential, while DC might be hit by a hurricane. However, SF is very close to a lot of open space and state parks in the bay area, and a short drive away from the Sierra Nevada.

SF without a doubt - better weather, lots more to do and overall a great city.
