Try to find any acting classes at a local community college. Once you perform in class you can decide how soon you want to audition for plays and such. It will also put you in a position to learn about auditions, network with other actors and get involved. Acting is doing.

1. Practice reading out loud -- especially cold readings -- pick a random passage and read it out loud to your friends and family.

2. Read plays and movie scripts to get a feel for plays and movie scripts as literature. Practice performing the characters in your favorite movies and plays.

3. Find the closest community college -- take every theater and acting class they offer. Study theater history and criticism as well as acting. Audition for every play presented by the college.

4. Read about the great actors of the past such as Lawerence Olivier, Omar Sharif, and Alec Guinness.

If you are in school, join the drama department.
If you are not in school, ask your mom or dad to call the Community Theatre in the city where you live and ask where you can take acting lessons.
