Is it possible? Let's say that a person has never been accepted by other people. No one ever wanted to be his/her friend, can a person go on living happy alone?

I'm alone, but I'm use to. Sounds like self-pity. Why is self pity so bad?

it depends on what being alone is for you.... sometimes in your most solitary, you feel that you are never alone. You can be in a room full of people, but feel out of place.
& be at peace at yourself, though walk your own path & dance to your own music... if you enjoy it, i believe u are HAPPY.

I have a reasonably happy life, even though I truly have no-one who I can genuinely consider as liking me, for me, as I am, who I am. My life is not great, it's not easy, I'm not ecstatic or anything, but I'm usually moderately content. So I'd have to say yes, it's possible.

Yes, until you become ill-which makes you dependent and in need and if there is no one there it is a horrid situation.

The transcendentalists thought so. They said that you don't need anything but yourself. So sure, why not?
