They are essentially the same. Loc-tite came first and Permatex and a few others got in on the market with their version. I have used most brands and not noticed any real difference between them all. Most people refer to them all as Loc-tite, like a generic term.

Go to the spec. sheets. There will be answers for torque to tighten/loosen, temperature range, solvent resistance and also cost per thread treated. In industry, the locker chosen is the cheapest which will do the job in question. As an individual with limited usage, you may want to choose the one which has the best overall performance and the longest shelf life. If you plan to take things apart, you also don't want to get the locker which will result in fastener breakage when disassembling.

The only difference is the brand name. there may be some chemical difference because of the brand patents, but they both do the same job just as well.

they are about the same thing,just different companies made them.i like the lock-tite better.
