On Feb 26, 2001, Future Iraq Ambassador L. Paul Bremer III says:
"The new adminstration seems to be paying no attention to the problem of terrorism."
Do you believe the administration was more interested in war with Iraq?

Steve D - he said "administration," not congress. So please read it again, slowly this time. Or better yet, have someone else read it to you! Have a good evening.

Well a statement like that has made me think. It is Bremer's statement and it shouldn't be ignored.
I wld not commit myself to say the admin was more interested in war with Iraq... but the reasons for being there in the first place are questionable so I don't see why Bremer's statement wouldn't be accurate.
Now you realize this Q will open all kinds of badgering b/c some ppl won't hv an answer so they will call u names and insult u...they will claim that blowing everyone up IS the answer.

This past year at the Tribecca film festival, the winner for Best Documentary (made by soldiers fighting in Iraq today) stated in the film..."Providing Iraqis with democracy is the last thing on our to-do list, the first and foremost task is protecting Halliburton projects"

That Bush wanted to take Iraq is very well-documented.
As soon as he got back to the White House after 9/11, Bush started pressuring his staff to pin it on Saddam Hussein.
Whenever they tried to point out to him he hadn't had anything to do with it, he yelled at them (major hissy-fits) and told them to pin it on him.
He had told a reporter, during the campaign, that he wanted to take out SH -- he had been mean to his daddy, and he wanted to go down in history as a "Great" president (even he realized, not even reaching the level of mediocrity, that winning a war was his only chance).
So now he's Greatest Failure -- I'd give that a Mission Accomplished.

He's referring to the Democratic majorities in the House and the Senate. And I agree. The dems have their head in the sand when it comes to terrorism. They actually believe they can sit down and talk with these people. Good luck with that. But they just might lose their heads in the process.

J. Michael Springman – Former career Foreign Service Officer with the State Department and the International Foreign Trade Administration of the Commerce Department. Former Consular Officer in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where he supervised the issuance of visas. 20-year Federal Government career.
Video of Speech to National Press Club 6/10/02: "I used to be in charge of the visa section at the CIA's Consulate in Jeddah. ... There for a year and a half I issued visas to terrorists recruited by the CIA and its asset Osama Bin Laden. ... Fifteen of the nineteen people who allegedly flew airplanes into buildings in the United States got their visas from the same CIA Consulate at Jeddah." http://youtube.com
BBC Interview 11/6/01: "In Saudi Arabia I was repeatedly ordered by high level State Dept officials to issue visas to unqualified applicants. These were, essentially, people who had no ties either to Saudi Arabia or to their own country. I complained bitterly at the time there. I returned to the US, I complained to the State Dept here, to the General Accounting Office, to the Bureau of Diplomatic Security and to the Inspector General's office. I was met with silence. ...
What I was protesting was, in reality, an effort to bring recruits, rounded up by Osama Bin Laden, to the US for terrorist training by the CIA. They would then be returned to Afghanistan to fight against the then-Soviets." http://news.bbc.co.uk
