My power adapter for my external CD RW Drive which has a 5.25 volts output was lost and I'm trying to find a replacement for it. Will a 5 volts or 6 volts adapter be a safe alternative? If I plug it into a 1000 m.a. without knowing its capacity be unsafe?

If your voltage and polarity are right, you will be fine. The CD player will only draw the current it needs. All you need to worry about is whether the alternative power supply can supply AT LEAST the amount your CD player needs. A 1000mA might not hack it. CD players need a moderate amount of power.
