Money does not create character. I find it does the opposite. I have yet to hear of a homeless man going to prison for embezzlement or stock fraud. A lack of character would help one to keep from becoming homeless, as it is usually pride that keeps them from going to social services for help.

Certainly! As a matter of fact, poor people tend to have a more honest and genuine character than those who are middle class or wealthy because of their lack of material "things." Character development is a product of wisdom, knowledge, and choices learn through life... not a product of income or possessions.

Absolutely. I have lived around those that do not have much, and have had the opportunity to read several non-fiction books on similar subjects. What everyone needs is someone in the world who cares for them-if you have someone that is like family to you, as far as I'm concerned, you are one of the richest in this world. Friends of mine, who grew up in financially poor homes, are very much respected and I admire them for their attitude and will in life. We all should look for people with spirit like that.

Boy are you out of touch with the world! I'd say that poor folk have a lot more character than rich snobs like your parents who sheltered you and taught you nothing do. But that's just my opinion. Flag me if you will.

Yes, in fact the poor often have to work together to survive, so they develop a sense of community and hard work that the rich fail to develop.

It’s so easy to do right when we are not pressured. Precisely, it is when we are “under the gun” so to speak that our resolve is tested to the limit. Will we still do right or will we succumb to the pressure and give in to the temptation? This is our test in life. Have we learned the principles of right and wrong and are we able to actualize what we have learned under any and all conditions?

“Other benefits include among many others lessons in pride and humility, kindness to those in need. By experiencing these conditions, we learn to manage our resources more efficiently, whether they be meager or abundant. Conditions of poverty and other similar handicaps provide us with the opportunity to rise above ourselves in the service of others. For ‘We must be perfect, as the Father in heaven is perfect.’”

Absolutely. Environment, role modelling, learning through free books in libraries, school, - plus other input would give ethics and morals which would inculcate good character (if the person wishes to have good character.)

What kind of question is that? "The poor" are people just like everyone else. Are you so wealthy that you've never encountered a poor person before?
