I'm going to beef up my 97 turbo eclipse gsx overtime. Going to upgrade the air filter and intake pipe but I was just wondering if that is going to make my engine sound a bit stronger? Its all stock right now and I'm really dissatisfied with its sound! And dont worry, I'm not a "ricer" or anything, I was just wondering. ;-)

A Cold Air Intake is what you are referring to. These will add power, performance, and fuel mileage to your car. And, yes, it will make your car sound stronger. The intakes usually make a hard sucking sound when you punch the gas.

yes the intake will give you engine a deeper roar that will be very apparent in the cab when you stomp on the gas

whether you replace the intake manifold for intake piping the engine will recieve a better sound because air is flowing through much easier

Under heavy throttle application, your engine will be a little louder with a cone filter, or a cold air intake.

Messing with the intake won't have any affect on sound. You have to change muffler/exhaust systems.
